Seasonal maintenance in Metro Detroit
Spring and summer
Review any winter leaks, ground-level masonry changes and fireplace odors. Schedule assessment early enough to allow for measurements, parts and suitable repair weather. Photograph changes from a safe position on the ground.
Before the heating season
Arrange the annual inspection and any recommended cleaning or repairs. Confirm the appliance is ready for use and follow its operating instructions. Check smoke and carbon monoxide alarms according to their manufacturer instructions.
During the season
Watch for changing draft, unusual smells, water or debris. Stop using the appliance if performance changes or damage is suspected, and arrange evaluation. Keep records of service findings and completed work.
